Welcome!

For the 2012-2013 school year, the Colloquium on Ethnicity and Diaspora (CED) has an exciting calendar of events planned around the theme, Bodies in Motion. While we are interested in minority representation in the media, we also want to explore how Othered bodies are in a constant performative mode on and off screen, across and through spaces and nations. Our goal is to more deeply explore the myriad ways an Othered body becomes interpolated in public culture and unpack the relationship between power, freedom, and visibility.

In addition, we hope to foster a lively space for sharing work, commiserating about the academic job market, and building community between students and faculty. With this strong of a lineup, it promises to be a great year. We hope to see you soon!
